🎯 Document Objective

This document aims to help our partners gain a better understanding of veterinary orthopedic equipment.

The goal is not to make them surgeons, but to enable them to:

  • Understand the work of veterinary surgeons,
  • Understand how the different surgeries work,
  • Understand the ranges of orthopedic equipment.

🧩 Why an orthopedic range?

Fractures and osteoarticular pathologies are common in animals: trauma, malformation, joint diseases, etc.

When a bone is broken, it must be immobilized to heal properly.

The role of orthopedic equipment is to temporarily replace the mechanical function of the bone while it naturally repairs itself.

But it’s not only about fractures. The orthopedic range is also used to correct deformities, stabilize a diseased joint, block a painful joint, etc.

It can be compared to an “internal cast,” fixed directly on or in the bone.

💼 The partner’s role

The veterinarian chooses equipment based on:

  • type of fracture or pathology,
  • the size of the animal,
  • his/her surgical technique,
  • and the client’s budget.

The partner must therefore be able to:

  • Understand the context of use of the equipment,
  • Master the technical differences between products,
  • Help the practitioner find within the range the solution that meets their needs.
